Oct. 2011: Capital Campaign Update

Dear Friends,

At last a glorious fall is upon us after the nearly ceaseless rains.  While the construction on our new Education and Conference Center has been delayed, we have been graced by many pilgrims, wearied and buffeted by adversity and storms in their own lives, who have paused here and found within hidden springs of peace, perspective, persistence and hope.

Our benefactors and volunteers have shown enduring commitment to our mission, contributing in multiple ways.  With the uncertainties in the economy, we are humbled that 605 of them chose to make Cranaleith a priority in their giving with annual-appeal donations totaling $150,000 and the capital campaign reaching nearly $1 million in its first year!  This was astounding, and we offer our deepest thanks.  We could not go forward with this vision unless our supporters were behind us, beside us, and out front beckoning us.

As we embark on the second year of the campaign and continue our preparations for expanding our ministry in the new facilities, we do so trusting in divine providence and in you.  And how could we not?  For 150 years, the Sisters of Mercy of Philadelphia and folks like you have heard the cries and suffering of the poor, and vowed to make a difference.  We have collaborated in the works of mercy – imagining and creating bridges to a world where the potential of everyone can flourish, and the unique gift of each person can enrich the whole.

Let us continue to work together to evoke healing, wholeness and growth not only in persons on the margins, but in society itself, in need of recovering its inner resilience, and magnanimity.
