Cranaleith Spiritual Center Celebrates Ten Years
This fall marked ten years since Cranaleith Spiritual Center opened its doors as an oasis of spiritual renewal in our area. The Center hosted two special events to celebrate the anniversary, centered on the theme “A Sanctuary of Trees, A Table of Mercy: Taste and See!”.
On September 13th, a Homecoming Picnic was held on the grounds. All those who had participated in Cranaleith’s ministry since it opened its doors were invited to join in a prayer of gratitude on the hill overlooking the pond, followed by a cook-out and outdoor festivities. The 300 guests included those from ministries serving many of the vulnerable communities in our Philadelphia area, participants in Cranaleith’s programs of spiritual refreshment and leadership development, neighbors, supporters, family members and friends. A highlight of the ceremony was the moment when everyone circled the pond and set origami paper cranes sailing, to radiate the peace deepened at Cranaleith into the world.
On November 8th, a gala was held next door. During the evening, a video was shown describing Cranaleith’s ministry, “An Unfolding Vision, 1998-2008”. The evening’s events also included awards and testimonials. The Catherine McAuley Award was presented to three women who embodied her tender courage and mercy. Sister Christine McCann, RSM, was recognized for her prophetic vision in embracing the new expression of Mercy Cranaleith represents. Marisa Guerin was honored for her leadership in the world of business and the professions, especially in Cranaleith’s Work/Spirit program. Awardee Dorothy Hutton Trainer, artist and family matriarch, whose exquisite paintings have invited countless others to discover their inner beauty, was recognized for the creative love that has graced Cranaleith from the beginning. After the award presentations, guests who had participated in Cranaleith’s ministry told their experience. Music by the Irish group “Celtic Crossroads” completed the gala program.
